Inflammation of the eyelids, typically around the eyelashes. Various types of dermatitis, rosacea and allergic reactions can cause blepharitis. Symptoms include a red or pink eyelid, crusty lid or lashes, burning, foreign body sensation, eye or eyelid pain or discomfort, dry eyelid, dry eye, eyelash loss, grittiness, stickiness, eyelid swelling and tearing.

Warm Eyebright, Goldenseal, and  Mullein
Type: External
Purposes: Take a towel and soak it in brewed eyebright tea, lie down and place the soaked towel over your closed eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. This will help to relieve eyestrain. Goldenseal and Mullein compresses will soothe eyes and help to reduce inflammation. Prepare a tea using either Goldenseal or Mullein, soak a towel in the tea, Place the warm towel over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Soak a fresh towel in the tea and wipe the edge of the eyelid and area around and between the eyelashes removing debris and scaly matter. Repeat this treatment twice daily. Use a new compress each time and discard the used one.
