Bursitis

About
Bursitis is inflammation of the bursae. Bursae are small sacs of synovial fluid in the body. They reside in joints where muscles & tendons slide across bone. Normally, this process is a smooth one; however, when bursitis flairs, the movement is rough and can be very painful.

Notes
  • Make sure you are taking supplements for overall good health. If you are not taking these basic supplements, we recommend Enfuz from Vitabase. When you take a small packet of pills each day, you get all the basic nutrition you need. Each packet contains a multi-vitamin, CoQ10 (for heart health), Omega 3, Vitamin D-3, a probiotic, and a powerful set of antioxidants to help your body fight off disease.
  • The best effective way to treat bursitis indicates taking away what is causing the injury with controlled exercise and/or immobilization and rest. Also possibilities for treating bursitis are removing the infection that may be hidden and maybe even surgery to clear away calcium deposits.
  • A somewhat unheard of methodology for treating bursitis may comprise of placing honeybee venom directly into the site where the bursitis is located. The venom is a potent anti-inflammatory and can have the ability to ease the pain, as well as to stimulate the immune system. In some cases the physicians actually place the bees at the affected site and allow the bee to inject the venom and in others the physician uses a hypodermic needle to inject the venom. A Cream by the name of Bee Venom Balm is available from Aerobic Life Industries. Persons allergic to bees should not use this product. More information on this subject can be found from the American Apitherapy Society.
  • Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), a byproduct of wood processing, may have the distinct capability to ease pain and encourage healing, as well as cut down on swelling. Only DMSO that has been purchased at a health food store should be used. There is a commercial-grade DMSO that can be purchased from hardware stores but it is not as good a quality and, therefore, is not recommended. After using DMSO for a time, you may notice that you have a garlicky body odor. This is normal and only temporary.

Advice
  • A ten-day fast is recommended. Dedicate the first seven days to raw foods. Then do a cleansing fast for the last three days.
  • Adjust your activity level to your body's needs. Do not over-exert yourself. Make sure you rest when you need it. Do not continue an activity if you are in pain.
  • Apply a castor oil pack to the injury for up to two hours. Make the pack by heating castor oil in a pan (not boiling). Apply to the injury with a piece of cheesecloth soaked in the oil. Put a piece of plastic over the saturated cheesecloth so it is covered. Top with a heating pad.
  • Place an ice pack on the injury.
  • Stay away from refined sugar and processed foods.
