Constipation

About
A condition in which bowel movements happen less frequently than is normal for the particular individual, or the stool is small, hard, and difficult or painful to pass.

Notes
  • Make sure you are taking supplements for overall good health. If you are not taking these basic supplements, we recommend Enfuz from Vitabase. When you take a small packet of pills each day, you get all the basic nutrition you need. Each packet contains a multi-vitamin, CoQ10 (for heart health), Omega 3, Vitamin D-3, a probiotic, and a powerful set of antioxidants to help your body fight off disease.
  • An individual may have acidosis. Signs of this could be stool that has a bad odor and there may be burning in the anus.
  • If using natural fiber and herbal laxatives do not seem to be of benefit, it could be that you have an issue with muscle coordination. The normal process are for the upper muscles in the bowel to tighten as the lower muscles ease up. Problems can occur should the lower muscle tighten which can cause it to go into a spasm instead of easing up.
  • It is not recommended to use laxatives on a regular basis as they can create more serious problems such as diarrhea, abdominal cramping, bloating, dehydration, and even damage to the colon. You may also become dependent on laxatives. A few things that you can do to thwart off constipation are to get regular exercise and eat a high-fiber diet.
  • A natural stool softener can be flaxseed oil or freshly ground flaxseeds. Since flaxseeds have a good taste, freshly ground flaxseed can be added to cereals, salads, and other foods.
  • A switch off between constipation and diarrhea could indicate the presence of irritable bowel syndrome. This ailment, while being unpleasant, is not considered to be dangerous. Other symptoms that may be evident are cramping pains, gassiness, and variation in the stool consistence. Many experts seem to feel that stress may be a cause of irritable bowel syndrome.
  • If constipation occurs frequently, the possibility of cancer or another obstruction in the lower bowel will need to be ruled out with the use of a proctoscopic examination or a barium enema. You could also have colon cancer if there is blood present in the stool, severe cramping occurs, you have a tender, distended abdomen, or the stool is markedly narrower. However, cancer can still occur even without these indications.
  • Psyllium seed can be of assistance to those who suffer from constipation. If you take psyllium seed, be sure to drink a whole glass of water.
  • To alleviate the constipation, an individual can also try fasting periodically.
