Ear Infection

About
Presence and growth of bacteria or viruses usually in the middle ear. Ear Wax (Cerumen) – Yellow secretion from glands in the outer ear canal that keeps the skin of the ear canal dry and protected from infection.

Notes
  • Make sure you are taking supplements for overall good health. If you are not taking these basic supplements, we recommend Enfuz from Vitabase. When you take a small packet of pills each day, you get all the basic nutrition you need. Each packet contains a multi-vitamin, CoQ10 (for heart health), Omega 3, Vitamin D-3, a probiotic, and a powerful set of antioxidants to help your body fight off disease.
  • Bottle fed babies are more likely to have ear infection opposed to breastfed babies.
  • Children should be tested for food allergies if the child has reoccurring ear infections.
  • For ear infection surgical draining of the ear or antibiotics may be needed to heal ear infections.
  • If there is a smoker in the home ear issues are common.
  • Other reason for ear pain is pressure on the eardrum during air travel.
  • Perforated eardrum will heal naturally without hearing loss. Sudden pressure inward or infection may cause the eardrum to rupture.
  • The common cause of ear infections is B-Cat and can be eliminated with an antibiotic called Augmentin.

Advice
  • A mixture of 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of glycerine, and 1 pint of warm water can help eliminate ringing in the ear. Spray into the nose and allow it to run into the throat. This mixture can also be sprayed on the throat a few times a day.
  • Bottle-fed babies with ear infections should be fed Rice Dream, soymilk, or nut milk and should be kept away from dairy products for 30 days.
  • Chronic cough (lasting longer than 3 weeks) should be checked by a doctor to make sure there is not an excessive amount of earwax built up inside the ear. The doctor can decide whether or not it is necessary to use careful suction or warm water with a narrow curette to remove the excess wax.
  • Garlic enemas are recommended for serious toxin levels. Aches and pains, fever, and chills could indicate dangerous toxin levels.
  • Get an otoscope for your home so you can examine your children's ears at home.
  • If you have an ear infection, refrain from blowing your nose. Do not allow water or soap into the ear canal. During showering or bathing, it is a good idea to place cotton in your ears to keep the water out. Refrain from swimming until healed.
  • In order to alleviate some of the pain and to reduce fever, you can try a homeopathic mix of Belladonna, Calcarea carbonica, Chamomilla, Lycopodium, Pulsatilla, and Sulfur.
  • Look for signs of a ruptured eardrum: pain suddenly stopping or starting, bleeding or bloody discharge, hearing loss, dizziness, and ringing in the ears. If any of these symptoms occur, see your doctor immediately.
  • Placing hot and cold compresses right behind the ear can help.
  • Rotate foods every four days to avoid development of food allergies.
  • Stay away from foods that are often allergenic: dairy, wheat, corn, peanut butter, and oranges. Also stay away from simple carbohydrates like sugar, fruits, and fruit juices.
  • Stay away from unsanitary situations as this may promote the infection. Consider using over-the-counter eardrops or nasal spray to help with the infection.
