Epilepsy

About
Neurological disorder in which a person can go into seizures. A seizure occurs when there is a change in sensation, awareness, or behavior that can happen when the brain "shorts out" or has an electrical hiccup.

Notes
  • Make sure you are taking supplements for overall good health. If you are not taking these basic supplements, we recommend Enfuz from Vitabase. When you take a small packet of pills each day, you get all the basic nutrition you need. Each packet contains a multi-vitamin, CoQ10 (for heart health), Omega 3, Vitamin D-3, a probiotic, and a powerful set of antioxidants to help your body fight off disease.
  • 90% of pregnant women still take there medication and have normal babies.
  • Be careful with other medications you are taking with your epilepsy drugs because of side effects.
  • Ketogenic Diet has had great success in controlling seizures in children.
  • Majority of people with epilepsy are aware and take medication to stay in control of seizures.
  • Other conditions can cause seizures such as brain disorders, high consumption of alcohol, encephalitis, meningitis, high fever, stroke, use of drugs, and lack of oxygen.
  • Seizures may increase if folic acid is taken over 400 micrograms a day.
  • Surgery is available to remove the tiny tumors in the brain that cause seizures.

Advice
  • Bathe with Epsom salt twice weekly.
  • Exercise regularly to enhance circulation to the brain.
  • How to help someone who is having a seizure: Do not hold the person down. Keep everything away from their mouth. Try to help them avoid falling by getting them to sit down or lie down before the seizure begins. Keep things out from under his head. Make sure he is in a safe position on a flat surface. A person who is having a seizure should be laid on his side if possible to allow blood or saliva to drain. Use pillows to keep him in that position. If the person loses control of his bowels or bladder, help him avoid embarrassment by covering him lightly. Make sure the person is comfortable and that his clothing is not too tight. Remain with him until the seizure has stopped so you can provide further assistance.
  • In order to provide your body with plenty of nutrients, it is important to include fresh live juices from beets, carrots, peas, red grapes, green leafy vegetables, green beans, and seaweed.
  • Include 2 tablespoons of olive oil daily as part of your diet. Consume meals and drinks in smaller portions.
  • On days you fail to have bowel movements, administer a lemon enema (juice from 2 lemons and 2 quarts of water) before going to bed.
  • Repeated seizures should be brought to a doctor's attention. Seizures in a baby or young child should be attended to immediately.
  • Stay away from animal protein, fried foods, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, nicotine, caffeine, refined foods, and sugars.
  • Take the lowest dosage of drugs as possible. Learn to control your epilepsy through proper diet and supplements.
  • The following should be a part of your diet: beet greens, green leafy vegetables, eggs, chard, raw cheese, seeds, soybeans, raw nuts, and raw milk.
  • Try to stay away from tension and stress.
  • Yogurt, kefir, or other soured products are recommended.
