Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar)

Advice
  • Chromium Picolinate (200 mcg daily) is recommended to help ease symptoms. Chromium may help with sudden shock.
  • Diet should full of fiber and plenty of raw or steamed vegetables. The following vegetables are recommended: carrots, broccoli, string beans, Jewish artichokes, squash, and raw spinach. Other foods to include in the diet are apples, bananas, persimmons, lemons, potatoes, lentils, tofu, apricots, cantaloupes, avocados, grapefruits, oat bran, brown rice, oats, and beans.
  • Fatty foods should be avoided. This includes bacon, gravies, ham, sausage, cold cuts, fried foods, and high-fat, non-soured dairy products.
  • Hominy, yams, white rice, noodles, pasta, and corn can be added to the diet in moderate portions.
  • Learn to manage stress through listening to music, meditation, massage therapy, and deep-breathing.
  • Low-fat cottage cheese, kefir, fish, grains, raw cheese, raw nuts, seeds, skinless white chicken or white turkey breast, and low-fat yogurt are good sources of protein.
  • Maitake mushrooms help the body handle stress better.
  • Once a month, hold to a fast of fresh vegetable juices and lemon juice enemas. Spirulina and protein powder can help to manage blood sugar levels while fasting.
  • Regular exercise is important. Wait one to three hours after eating before you exercise.
  • Rotate foods to avoid development of food allergies.
  • Six to eight smaller meals eaten more frequently during the day are better than three large meals. Try not to skip meals.
  • Stay away from foods that have been canned, packaged, refined, or processed. Also avoid alcohol, salt, dried fruits, sugars, soft drinks, white flour, saturated fats, and foods with artificial color or preservatives.
  • Stevia, molasses, barley malt syrup, and brown rice syrup are good alternatives to sugar.
  • Sweet fruits and juices (like grape and prune) are not recommended. Sweet juice is allowed if diluted with water first.
  • When low blood sugar causes a reaction, consume bran or rice crackers with raw cheese or something else that gives you quick fiber and protein.
  • Whole apples provide more fiber than applesauce. To inhibit a hypoglycemic reaction, try fiber alone from popcorn, rice bran, crackers, oat bran, psyllium husks, and ground flaxseed. Fiber supplements should be consumed thirty minutes before eating. Spirulina helps control blood sugar levels.
