Paget's Disease of Bone


About
Paget's Disease of Bone is a condition that occurs when bones fall apart and new, weaker bones are formed in their place. Deformities, pain, arthritis, and fractures often accompany this disease.

  • Garlic helps improve circulation and eases inflammation.
  • Make sure your home is safe. Put up handrails where necessary and make sure floors are open and trip-free.
  • Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, cayenne peppers, sweet peppers, chili peppers, paprika, pimiento, and other nightshade vegetables should be avoided as they have a negative effect on metabolism of calcium.
  • Talk to your doctor to figure out an exercise program that is right for you.
  • To decrease the chance of spinal deformities, make sure you have a firm mattress or bed board.
  • Visit your doctor regularly to monitor for bone cancer or other disorders. Hearing aids can be helpful when hearing loss takes place.
  • When experiencing flare-ups, stay in bed, rotating often to keep from getting sores.
