Psoriasis

About
Red or brown patches on the skin may indicate a condition known as Psoriasis. Each patch is covered with scales that are silvery-white.

Notes
  • Make sure you are taking supplements for overall good health. If you are not taking these basic supplements, we recommend Enfuz from Vitabase. When you take a small packet of pills each day, you get all the basic nutrition you need. Each packet contains a multi-vitamin, CoQ10 (for heart health), Omega 3, Vitamin D-3, a probiotic, and a powerful set of antioxidants to help your body fight off disease.
  • Consider taking activated vitamin D3 ointment to help with psoriasis.
  • During summer months, psoriasis is not usually as bad, but it may come back.
  • Get the help you need from organizations that specialize in psoriasis.
  • If using cortisone cream to control spread of psoriasis, only use it for short periods of time as using it for long periods of time could cause skin to become delicate and thin.
  • Psoriasis cannot be fully cured yet, but its symptoms can be controlled through ointments, creams, and soft scrubbing to get rid of scales. Ultraviolet light (UVL) therapy is sometime recommended for inhibiting spread of psoriasis. Tar therapy may also be helpful when used with UVL therapy.
  • Research is continuing to see if shark cartilage may be beneficial for psoriasis. Other drugs may cause toxicity, while shark cartilage is thought to be toxin-free.
  • Short-term sun exposure (15-30 minutes) may actually be beneficial for getting rid of scales and redness. Methoxsalen is also beneficial.
  • Some people may benefit from essential fatty acid supplements containing omega-3 and omega-6.
  • Some psoriatic lesions can be frozen off with liquid nitrogen.
  • Taking etretinate may result in the formation of bone spurs in the ankles and knees.
  • The following drugs and methods are available or under research to help with psoriasis: methotrexate, hydroxyurea, retinoid, cyclosporine therapy, and calcitrol. Talk to your doctor to see if any of these may be beneficial for you.
  • To help with psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe citrating. Women should not become pregnant within three years after using this drug.

Advice
  • Diet should consist of 50% raw foods and grains and vegetables.
  • Need to consume plenty of fiber.
  • Need to take fish oil, primrose, and flaxseed oil supplements.
