Tooth Decay

Tooth Decay occurs when bacteria gets into a person's system and joins with food debris and mucus. This sticky combination attaches itself to the teeth in the form of plaque, which will eventually eat away at the teeth (decay).

  • Make sure you are taking supplements for overall good health. If you are not taking these basic supplements, we recommend Enfuz from Vitabase. When you take a small packet of pills each day, you get all the basic nutrition you need. Each packet contains a multi-vitamin, CoQ10 (for heart health), Omega 3, Vitamin D-3, a probiotic, and a powerful set of antioxidants to help your body fight off disease.
  • Air abrasive technology is being used as an alternative to drilling in removing tooth decay.
  • As far as science can tell, no connection has been made between endocarditis (heart infection) and dental work.
  • Cranberry extract may help get rid of plaque. Research is being done to see if it can be added to toothpaste and mouthwash.
  • Dental x-rays can be helpful when done in moderation.
  • Fillings are the best way to handle tooth decay at this time. Make sure that any fillings you may need do not contain mercury, which can cause toxic metal poisoning.
  • Fluoride can be beneficial in protecting against tooth decay. It can be obtained through toothpaste, drinking water, and treatments at the dentist.
  • Getting rid of oral bacteria through a vaccine is a possibility that is undergoing research. If this works, it would help protect against tooth decay.
  • Visit your dentist regularly.

  • A mixture of 1/2 teaspoon of salt and warm water can help alleviate pain caused by toothache or abscess. See your dentist as soon as possible.
  • Avoid smoking.
  • Chewable vitamin C tablets can eat away at tooth enamel. It is best to get vitamin C from tablets or powder.
  • Consuming raw fruits and vegetables can help balance level of acid in saliva.
  • Do not consume carbonated beverages. They remove calcium from tooth enamel.
  • Oral hygiene is very important. Brush your teeth 2-3 times daily (after meals is recommended). Over-brushing can cause receding gums and other problems. Floss at least once daily. Consider using a mouth rinse that can help remove plaque. Get a new soft-bristled toothbrush each month.
  • Stay away from refined sugars.
